I'm wondering if it's about all this war and stuff going on in Iraq and that general region.

Life is just the pacecar of death only less diligent[basically any phrase ending in 'only less dilligent' probably have something to do with 'life always cheats you or rips you off or surprises you in nasty ways'] and when the two collide[2 opposing forces? like in a war?] it's no coincidence[it was meant/bound/obvious for it to happen] the lights are on and everybody's home[everytime casualties are reported, everybody rushes home to make sure that it's not THEIR son who got themselves killed]

The only thing suicidal here is the door[hmm. i'm wondering if that's referencing the door or 'opportunity' of war, and how daft and stupid that would be when there's a better 'door' waiting to be opened] We had a good run even i have to admit[basically saying that it was worth it, despite the narrator's objections] Life's just a pay stub on debt Only less diligent[like i said before, i think it's talking about how much life SUCKS]

Hell or Glory[pretty obvious what this means] I don't want anything in between[don't wanna settle for a mediocre life/death.] Then came a baby boy with long eyelashes[new meat? long eyelashes = weak, effiminate, not manly? or even gay, like you said?] Daddy said you gotta show the world the thunder[i wonder if it's making 'daddy' a perversion of 'uncle sam', and even using it as a metaphor for propaganda, and the 'show the world the thunder' bit could be another metaphor for propaganda! The thunder, the thunder, the thunder

We didn't come to compete this is a demonstration[how war is public, or will end up that way, and the previous line is saying, "Move over, pansies" i think. so to speak. xD] even the young ones become irrelevant [all's fair in love and war, anyone?] they always bring up how you changed[children always see the truth of things] never the same person when I go to sleep as when I wake up, as when I wake up[war changes people?? something like that?]

that was actually pretty quick for my usual line-by-line commentary... o.O...

My Interpretation

actually let me correct something.

"We didn't come to compete" [we came to win?]

"This is a demonstration" [we're making a statement, and we'll make sure everybody sees it.]

'even the young ones become irrelevant' could this mean even the young soldiers that die are just forgotten because so much death is going on?

hmm.

maybe.

it could go both ways really.
