The girl is lost within herself. It happens to everyone at some point in their life. You wake up one day and don't know who you are or what makes you tick. It's a scary thing and you just find yourself wanting and needing to get away from everything and everyone. I think that's what happen to this girl. She just asked to get away. He let her go to that unknown place that gives her solace but then realizes that she's going to need someone eventually to help her get out of the rut. He knows he's that person for her. So after contemplating he goes after her. He wants to help her find herself and bring her back home and everything it entails. Even when we ache to be alone, we still need those relationshps.
