Seriously people, how does this song NOT make sense? It makes perfect sense. Its about perpetuating the cycle of blue-blood upper crust bullshit. No love, just money. No partnership, just marrying for money. She "started out that way" because her mother was that way. She "married her daddy with a different name" she did what mommy did, found some rich bastard and became his trophy.
