One of my favorite Pavement songs. Would be on "best of" x2 (x3?) LP.
I always thought it was "waits in the taxi if room service calls"
My take on the song is a woman climbs the social ladder to find herself as a trophy wife, another possession of her husband. Put up on the shelf in a jar, or behind the spiral stairs with the old rugs. She's reached the top of the social ladder, and she's a skyscraper. But now what? She's just there, being, existing, not moving, not changing, rigid, immovable, accustomed to her lifestyle, stark. So stark.
