yeahh i definitely agree with myhysteria92, this song really gets me in a positive mood when i'm feel disillusioned. for me it makes me feel better because it eludes to a common disillusionment & yearning, that everybody is looking for 'a little patch of green where the future never comes', everybody wants to simply escape & dream.
except 'the lovers', who are positive even in tough times - they 'glow in the dark'. this might elude to loneliness as well, & the belief that things wouldn't be as tough if we all simply had somebody.
& i think this is what paul finds in his subject, they 'open the door' for him, where simple things such as flowers, symbols of love & support & care, mean so much - they are the difference, perhaps, between coping & not coping.
