My interpretation of this song would be about an old lover who keeps coming back, and the girl has finally realised that in reality, things aren't going to work out.
Certain lines in the song make me think that initially the girl in the song was the one who got her heart broken and wanted him more than he wanted her, and really wanted it to work as she loved him.
However the song seems to say that now the tables have turned... and its the guy keeps running back to the girl. But she knows the pain he put her through and how it didn't work, so she wants him to let her "fly away" so she can get over him and come "out from under".
That's just my opinion, but I definitley think its about letting go of someone, or being yourself and standing as your own person. And seeing the reality that things won't work out!
