Wow, am I the only one who seems to think that she's just wanting so badly to just love "someone"... "anyone"... That when she does, she smothers the shit out of them. In this case, it's this dude, that keeps wanting to go back and forth. If you listen to the verse:

My love is like a blanket That gets a little bit too warm sometimes I wanna wrap somebody in it Who can hold me in his arms Cause when it got a little too hot in there He was always stepping out for air and he froze Oh he froze

It's obvious that she smothers him, and he clearly doesn't like to be smothered. Hence the "stepping out into the cold" part. But yet he wants to love her. I hate being smothered too, if it's any consolation... It really makes for a hard time trying to breath, which is a key ingredient to living, ya know. Just saying... I usually don't comment with my POV on love songs, but I think a bunch of ya'll missed a big point in this one. Of course, I have been known to be wrong. It's all good.
