Cover art for Girl lyrics by Jim Sturgess

Well, the original version of the song performed by the Beatles is about a girl the singer loves, but the misgivings that come along with being with her... But in the case of Across the Universe, U would say that Jim Sturgess sings only that part in significance to the movie. In the movie he has to go through hell to get and keep the girl he wants... "The kind of girl you want so much she makes you sorry." It's loving someone deeply and sometimes it takes such a toll on you that it makes you sorry you love them. He's asking for someone who's willing "o listen to the story about the girl who came to stay"...remember in the last scene of the movie she comes back to him? She's there to (finally) stay and in the end all the shit he had to go through in order to be with her is worth it "still you don't regret a single day..."
