calendar girl, I think your idea is very much a possibility. There are alot of things that the song could be connected to, and that's one of them. And the title fits with the war theme, too.
The song has such a power to it in the third stanza/verse... Josiah's voice holds so much in it, and I am utterly in love with that part.
Also, I think this:
"Invisible angels, and being in wide array"
should be changed to this:
"Invisible angels in brilliant white array"
And this:
"I’ll forever kill every right than wrongs my way"
should be changed to this:
"I'll forever kill and right their wrongs my way"
