To me it is about trying so hard, but never being able to be the person you want to be, to be happy. You feel that whatever you do, it's never right and you'll never be able to achieve your goals. And it just goes on and on..
But it also gives hope, saying it is just "not your year", but that it'll pass and you just have to keep on trying, "don't give up".
I love the line "your life feels like the morning after, all year long". Everyone has their moments of feeling very sad, waking up and thinking "What did I do wrong?", but for some those moments last very long.
