I think this song is about believing in someoneso sure it can be taken as a religion type of belief but they realize the person they believed in was just a lie or just a figment of what they thought they were worthy of. torturing me has no use here anymore is an example of the person losing their affections they had of the person and thinks they just tortured them into thinking they were worth so much of their being.
