I personally think the meaning of the song is simple.
You can't state your opinion anymore without someone finding something wrong with it. And I don't mean they disagree with you, I mean they say "That's racist!" "That's sexist!" etc. Seriously, you can't say black without being accused of racism.

The song is about how complacent we as a people have become, so prepared to attack(both figurative and literal) anyone that appears/acts differently. In a single sentence he's saying/asking why the hell did social interaction take precedence over paying attention to the world, and how these new teens act like they have no control over their future when they ultimatly end up inherenting the future.
