i think this song... is about anorexia. it's kind of odd, but the line "if you could only see in the mirror what i see" kinda of shows that...
also, there's the "and your slow shaking fingertips show" cuz people who don't eat tend to shake a lot.
i think the guy is telling the girl that he's there for her. she thinks "well, it won't happen to me- i won't get that bad" but... he can see through her plan. and i also think that when it's like "slow down girl- you're not going anywhere" it's saying something about her needing to slow down with her problem.
"and it's true i can't go on without you" is talking about how if something happens to her... he can't go on, he won't be able to make it without her.
