Actually Eremus has to do with desert and hermitage, depending on context. but retreat would do just as well in this situation I think "Eremus" serves as a lighter period of reflection in the album. After the themes dealt with and their culmination in Akeldema, Eremus serves as a retreat or a hermitage (which might as well be in the desert) to reflect. Then when reflection is over redemption comes with "Chorus of Angels".
