When somebody else trigers you you can act like an oaf or a fool. They don't know what they've done but you do. So their perception is going to seem mar'd in your perspective, if you go back and look at it. When you go back you tear up parts of you. Parts of the self that you were trying to bild. It matters. Perhaps it matters a lot. But you have to let it go. That is what the "wierd" part sounds like to me. It is an emotional strain, the muddled, frizzled mind affect, that occurs when you go down a road that maybe you shouldn't go down.
