For me this song it's about a girl who just doesn't want to get deep in her relationship. I mean, she doesn't want anything serious but he's kinda making it hard for her ("you raise the bar even higher"). So when she says "throw the beauty on the fire", she's actually hoping that he lets her go, she wants him to forget about her cause she knows that if it continues, she could fall and hit the floor really hard. She doesn't want to demonstrate that she is really falling in love with this guy ("cover my descent"), but at the same time she's doubting want she formerly wanted cause aparently she's shared so much with this guy ("drawn towards the edge, do I assume I could fly?, every secret shared..., why do I drink the feelings dry?"). So she's been kinda limitating herself ("limitation scars") but thinking about not to ("tonight, could I be lost forever, to drown my soul in sensory pleasure"). Obviously, she's never had sex whith this guy, and why she says that she could get lost forever drowning her soul in sensory pleasure.
