hmm...I thought it was..."still want her even though I get less than she takes"...?

Anyway...for me this song is about taking chances and risks in love and relationships, "woman I'm taking risk here that no one dared and you're scared, scared of the bottom, afraid of the stairs"...and about being afraid to fall in love as you can get hurt. How you feel like you're giving your all to that person...doing everything you can for them...yet they aren't doing the same for you, "still want her in the know I get less than she takes". It's about the journey of a relationship, how one person is giving more than the other and how tough and hard love can be...but on the other hand...how beautiful and innocent it can be. I also think that one of them was hurt through the relationship..."what did I get into, now everything is untrue, your eyes tell the lies of the lines that you said" and how they were hurt so much that they wished they'd never met them so it would erase the pain. Basically...the song is about young love...the hardships...the innocence...the beauty...the pain...everything. Falling in love...is like taking a giant leap into the unknown...and that to me...is what this song is about =]

i believe that the song is really about the love for ones country "one plants a flag when the other is killed" meaning soldiers sacraficing their lives for country "when the wine pours we raise our cups" i believe the wine represent the blood of the soldiers and we raise our cups in rememberance. "young love is sacrafice, yougn love is tough. young love is innocence, young love is us" just means the innocent soldiers dieing for their country. does that make any sense.

It seems like he's talking more about being in an unbalanced relationship. Where one is taking more than the other. For me, the lines 'one plants a flag, while the other is killed' talks about how sometimes one partner is happier, feeling like everything is going fine in the relationship, they're basking in the glory and fame, while the other, is dying inside, compromising their own worth, by not realizing that they deserve better. Loneliness often makes people put up with anything. I think the whole song os about this theme
