Slow Motion Lyrics

I definitely think this song is about someone close to him dying of an illness. A friend of mine died of cancer just before I heard this song, and it was an incredibly long, painful process. When I heard Slow Motion, it clicked with the situation.

"Snowflakes are falling, now you're my long lost friend"- it's beautiful...actually, that entire last verse gets me every time. It shows a change in season. Everything was frozen in time as the person was dying- you get closed off within the walls that the person is bound by and that becomes your reality, but after they died, it's like he realized that life moved on- the seasons change, and it sets in. "You're my long lost friend". Time has truly continued to move- everything is real.

The beginning is pretty somber and very introspective of the situation, but the end...it feels like a triumphant celebration of a beautiful friendship.

One of Gray's finest works- no doubt!
