this song is a great song, i could never get sick of it. to me, this song is saying that the girl has done something she should regret (like neglecting their relationship) and in a sense, he hopes she regrets it. hes saying that its only gna make it harder that she doesnt come clean, or walk away before it just gets worse and worse.
the last part is probably the best part of the song
