When I listen to this song, I always feel like when she's saying the lines "You say I'm scary.. I guess I could be", she means that everyone tells her what she looks like, how she acts, and who she is, but she either doesn't see herself as that, or doesn't understand why anyone gives a fuck.
Thats how I look at it though, which is why I adore this song as much as I do.
