This is easily one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Most of the song is obvious: when he dies, he doesn't want to be in a box in the ground. He wants to be laid down in the woods he loves. "When I awake, the world will be born anew" refers to him decomposing and feeding the plants and animals around him, so he becomes a part of them.
The way the song winds down and ends with the birds singing is just amazing. It's almost like the female vocals are him decaying away, and the sounds of the woods are his new form.
