I've read something about how Page France doesn't realize that he's writing with spiritual overtones:
"As for the Christian symbols in my writing - sometimes I don’t even realize that they exist until someone points them out to me."
But I don't see how you can overlook that in this song.
"Buried in the junkyard" I think refers to everyone here on earth...
"And love until your hands bleed" is a reference to Jesus on the cross
Now there are a few more underlying allusions... but I'm not saying everything he is saying is scripturally sound. I just think it's definitely there.
