To me this song is a message to all people who give up when life gets a bit hard and end up wallowing in their sadness and not doing anything with their life.
The verses are the people complaining about their life and then you get the reply 'Is this really what you want?'. The lyrics 'Can't you turn them words around?' is also quite poignant in the first verse.
The chorus then lifts it back up with 'The world is in your hands, The world is in your hands, The world belongs to those of us who still believe we can
