This song came to me at a time when I was going through exactly what he (the author) is talking about. It's a very special song to me - it's about a person who gives someone else they love everything they can; they give their best and yet that is not returned ("No supiste dar lo que yo te di" - You did not know to give what I gave you). The other person doesn't even truly understand how valuable this person is ("No supiste ver lo que hay en mi" - You didn't know to see who I really am). Therefore this person realized that he/she wasn't really wanted, and tells the other person that, if they were to die, their last prayer would not be to them, and if they could take anything from this world into the next, it would not be them (or their image for that matter).
When I first heard this song I was going through a very bad relationship, one sided most of the time, because I loved her and tried to please her but it was never enough, and I was never enough. And it hurt so much, to know that no matter how hard I tried it was worth nothing to her. In the end she left me (!!!) and I finally realized that from the beginning it wasn't worth it, and this song really touched me when I heard it because it was almost like somebody took what I'd gone through and written the ending to it. Even today when I hear it, it makes me reflect on all the pain we people go through to find that one true love, and how many bad experiences we have to go through to (hopefully) find it.
