It should be 'door' in the first line and I know the book says 'lose' as well but I'm pretty sure the line should read:
And I let loose the demon I kept hidden for a time
Also, i know the booklet also says that the second line is correct but I hear
...lose what I feared...
I love the sounds of this song. I could listen to it all the time.
The way I look at it the lyrics are pretty self explanatory: he cheated on his girlfriend or whomever. He hopes that she either doesn't notice (blind) or has also slept with somebody else.
I am reading these lyrics quite literally so there very well could be a deeper meaning or I could be way off.
From what I can tell, he doesn't feel guilty, just sorry for the girl.
