Wow, after listening to this demo, this is quite possibly my favorite Kelly song of all time. I hope it ends up on the new album! It is so beautiful and flows nicely…I love singing it.
When I examine the lyrics (some of the above lyrics are wrong), in my mind I see a woman who is very much in love with a man (or woman) who is dealing with some major issues (well, they both are). This gave me a entirely new perspective on how it could feel to be in love with someone who is physically hurting you. Normally, I would say domestic abuse would be a reason to end any relationship, but through these lyrics there is a sense of “well, my partner is dealing with hard times and others are giving up on them, but I won’t…I’m going to stick with them until the end.” She is telling her partner to ‘close your eyes’ assuring them that she is not going to leave.
