This is missing a few key words: Falling deeper by the hour...don't let me fall deeper now.
My interpretation of this song is the exact opposite of Leonard's. It is the protagonist of the song who is at fault. I think that the protagonist suffers from some sort of instability (bipolar disorder?) in her life and needs the person behind her to support her, to keep her up, to hold her life up. He was and will always be there, yesterday, the night before, tomorrow. But no matter how steadfast and loyal his love, she doubts that he will always be there, and asks him for that reassurance.
She must dry her eyes because she cries from those worries, looking to the future, thinking that he will no longer be there, instead on being grateful on what he has done and on what he is doing.
The high heels and high horses is the happiness of love, that keep her happy, ecstatic, enthralled, and the best person she can be... she is safe until the night... depression, doubts, fear.
and so she falls deeper and deeper into an unstable life... she wants him to save her but at the same time she does not want him to save her. It is such an inner turmoil for her. Does she deserve him? Does he deserve better? Why does he love her? and so she asks him to let her go... without knowing that he will always love her.
