Lyric discussion by NiQ

whoa! I love this song. Has anyone here read the book "Blindness"?? I'm pretty sure this song is somewhat based off of it. I mean, it's weird cause some of the lines seem to have nothing to do with it, but there are many that seem to be straight from it. such as "the romantic air of your eyepatch called me across the room" "Neccesity conquers fear" (which i think is a direct quote from the book) "Dreaming we were stones" "waking to a world of white blindness" "painted eyes of the holy one". Sorry, I'm sure this doesn't make any sense if you haven't read the book, but i thought i would point them out. And what an odd day for me to find this song, because it's the release day of the movie Blindness.

I was just reading "Blindness" and came across that passage "Don't lose yourself; don't let yourself be lost" and I thought "That's Laura Veirs!" I looked up the lyrics on here, and discovered that there are WAY too many lyrics that are directly associated with that book to be a coincidence. I just didn't peg HER to be a Saramago fan. Go figure! I'm impressed - a very deep book to conquer, and while the mood of the song doesn't really capture the essence of Saramago, she does capture some great images associated with the novel...
