i think it's obvious what it's about,
what i think i'm noticing though,
is the 5 stages of grief...
Denial:
"you can't forget it"
at the beginning it's like she's can't believe he doesn't care.
Bargaining:
"we were once so strong,
our love it like a song."
it's as though she's trying to explain why he can't leave her.
Depression:
"we had it all, we were just about to fall even more in love"
everything they were is gone, who they were as "us" is dead.
Anger:
the song guitar comes in and suddenly she's telling him,
"you can't forget it AT ALL"
she won't allow it
Acceptance:
"and at last, all the picture have been burned,
and all the past is just a lesson that we've learned"
she understands, it's really over
"you won't sing along..."
now she's left,
to forget him.
maybe i'm forcing it,
but i think it's beautiful how they're incorporated,
it makes the song more effectual.
great voice.
excellent song.
you can see why it's the title track.
