stanza 1: God is trying to bring the person closer to Him, though the person has made mistakes that have distanced him/her from God.
God can bring the person closer to Him (stanza 2) and is doing just that, even when things seem to be going badly (Chorus).
The messages God gives the person are sustaining him/her, even through the bad times ("It feels...them down").
