I love the sound of this song! It's definitely an alltime favorite of mine, although I don't really get the lyrics. I don't know who Mighty Joe is, but maybe he's that free spirited, independent natureboy Grant is longing to be? Maybe it's a song about going back to basics, and ridding all modern nessecities? At least that's the feeling the song conveys to me.
For some reason I think of Jack Kerouac and his novel "The Road", when I listen to these lyrics. It has the same romantisized vision of the American wilderness.
Fantastic song no matter what. Strangely G.L.B. hasn't been commented that much, which I guess proves how much of an underrated songwriter he is. In Denmark where I live, hardly anybody knows him or his music.
