Ok. So I got a completely different interpretation from this but the way I interpreted it never completely made sense to me. I always thought that this song was about a signifigant other cheating on her ("The rain falls on your days giving you a reason for mysterious ways") and blaming it all on her for not being exactly the way he wanted or thought her to be. ("But you can blame it on me
and the person you thought I wanted you to be"). I don't know. That's kind of what I got of it.
