Just my 2 cents, but i think this is a love song. Along the lines that true love needs dedication and hard work to make it happen. On person gives up and it's causing pain on the other. The person who gave up doesn't realize the pain he/she caused. He is telling the person to wake up and be strong for what they want. Thats just my idea though.
