Yes, Shawn. This is my favorite of Bob's songs. I don't entirely agree with you corporal. Yes, of course the metaphores were a necessity. But I don't think that he's immitating a woman. But trying to re-entice the local slut, who was with his friend, then with him, & then ran off with another fella. "Come inside 'fore it rains" is his excuse to get her back in his house. She's in trouble with everyone else (maybe for being such a ho) & no one wants to give her sanctuary. She ain't got no more friends. Except Robert , of course.
