I had to sing this song in a cover band, and I could never understand the line "shove and sting like an old steam drill." After listening to the original about 100 times, I wasn't even sure that that was what ole Mick was saying, but I couldn't figure out an alternative interpretation, either. Does an old steam drill really shove and sting? What is Mick saying?

I think it's "shake and shimmy like an old steam drill." The original lyric was "puts the 8-beat to you like an old steam drill" i.e. boogie music.
