I believe that it's about either a daughter/son who is upset with her/his father. Or it can also be about a wife with an ungreatful and unloving husband.
The way I can relate to it is how my father never has time with me, only when I was a little kid. Now when he works alot more and has six other children, I'm the one who gets to take care of them alot. Then whenever I take the flight back home to mom, I see life in a new way. I don't know what the future has to bring, but hopefully things between me and my father will be fine. Yeah, wow, I can REALLY relate to this. Great song, all so very sentimental.
