Actually, this grammar is not only completely acceptable, it's also how English language poets have phrased things since the dawn of Modern English :) If you want to laugh at English being Jari's second language, listen to how he pronounced the word "visions" in Starchild. "Wisions", it's hilarious.
As for the meaning of this one, I didn't know it was about leaving Ensiferum, but I suppose that fits as well as any (I'll have to go find that interview somewhere). The theme of not quite dying runs through not only the entire Wintersun album, but also most of the good stories from the Eddas onwards. It's kind of a universal theme and it's one I really enjoy.
