I think the song is about times when you're on your own, and no one seems to be on your side. You just don't fit, yet you can't quite run away. "You'll never be in and you'll never get out". You just want to run to the end of the Earth, because it seems like you have nothing better to do. Maybe you're looking for something, maybe someone.
The end of the song reminds me of "Atlantic"
