I always thought this was about someone who was charmed into hopping into bed with a person only to discover the next morning that the person wasn't who she'd thought they were. Someone with a good reputation, very popular with the papers and press. She then goes to discover that this man has done it with a lot of people, but they're never believed. The only problem is that this particular girl isn't like the other meek ones and, even if the papers and the press don't believe her, she'll do something about it.
