I would say this song is about a guy and a girl, and at one point they would have been so close, but then things went wrong and they remained in contact, but not as close.
And then sooner or later, the guy realised his mistakes and how much he missed her, and admitting through all the wrong that went on ("Some mistakes in my past, But i'm tired of making excuses") he is grateful she is still in his life, and would love to regain what they had, confessing he'd always choose her.
