When I heard the first few seconds of the song, the chords sounded a bit similiar to vermillion part 2. and i thought for a second it could be part 3 ("the goodbye song" quoting kacperator).
This song has to be my fav on the album because it's hard to find a a song wth lyrics/vocals that genuinely parallels the singer/songwriter's own feelings.

She was probably the "light" and he was the "dark" in the relationship. as cliche as that sounds.
As easily as she brought innocence and light into his life she quickly left along with it, to leave him with his demons.

I think he is conflicted between love and hate for her. That could explain the constant repetition of "love" and "hate" in the lyrics. He wants her to leave him for both his and her own good. The hate within him is telling him that he doesn't care, while he obviously does care because he doesn't want to "destroy" her.
