I love how his song picks apart all these people's idea that "things used to be better in the past": the fifties, all wholesome, had the atom bomb, the sixties, all cool, had the Vietnam war, the eighties, all free, had the Berlin wall. Things WEREN'T better in the past on the whole, and the only things people regret from those times is their own youth. Brilliant!
