Pretending to have friends when you know they aren't really your friends, revealing superficial information (and the way you love sunsets), and faking feelings you don't have are all themes in the song. The bridge, "When you finally resurface," etc., could be viewed in the context of Eleventyseven being a semi-Christian band.
