Wait and Watch Lyrics

This reminds me of John Mayer's "Waiting For The World To Change" in that rather than writing a song saying we all need to stand up and fight for the country and all, it represents those who are just sitting back and waiting, literally, for the world to change itself, or die.

"The man on the TV with fear in his eyes Says we're all just animals trying to survive The weakest get hunted and eaten alive We lock all our doors, close our windows up tight Cower in fear and thank god that we're so civilized"

To me that's depicting the lackadaisical attitude that is widely shared throughout the country; the fact that people sit in their homes on their couches watching the news on their little TV sets, thinking "oh how great it is to be me" as if they're invulnerable to the devastation that is happening in not just other countries, but in their own backyards. I think it's a play on our naivety.

I don't think it's written from John's perspective, as in I don't think he really feels this way. I think he's writing it on behalf of how he views the country and the general public.

I don't know, I'm probably completely off.
