but viewed through a different filter it seems it may be about being infatuated

could be the man is the puppet and the woman pulls his strings.
though some of the other phrases lead me to believe it brings up the fact that we as a culture pen up our feelings so what we should act on is swept aside and when we should be expressing ourselves we simply walk away.
