wow... so many themes.. well, it seems to be that of a revolution, and a man at the head of it. he reaches power, through a lot of bloodshed, ready to make things better for the people. but power corrupts him ('people couldn't believe what i'd become) and soon people are revolting against him. he is in his last few minutes of life, and is letting off his thoughts. it seems to speak of corruption by power, struggling in a futile attempt for happiness and equality, rejection (I know saint peter won't call my name), treachery (never an honest word), and how it is in some ways impossible to remain true to word and thought and moral.

this song depresses me sometimes.
