i think its about a man who has given up on everything. including the little things in life like the people all around him. i think the beast he's talking about is the beast inside of him. the fearful and destructive part of him that wants to end his life. so he wants to hold on to what little hope he has and find something that is worth living for, before the beast consumes him. inevitable its too late and he cant find anything to keep him going, so 'its already done'
