This might be a shot in the dark...

But spawning off of the verse... 'Under ice there's a world moving slow Carnelian stars and the bars down below Serve only vodka and gin I try to stay drunk so nobody knows'

Maybe the world/stars/bars happen to be the writers personality/self. The point of drinking would be to mask it because it feels good (and nobody knows there's a world underneath the ice of the booze).

I would suppose the first two chunks would be leaving behind everything for the booze and hitting the vodka hard because 'I can't wait anymore'.

The verse pertaining to morning might be symbolic of that state where you're completely numbed by drink and feeling good about it.

Perhaps getting back to the city might be relating to sobering up and getting on with life?

Like I said... I'm way overtired and I'm probably way off.

i think you have some good ideas especially because the last two lines, "and the howling so loud that it alone drowns out the inside of me"

its as if shes hiding her true self like you said earlier
