uhh...because they are on a christian label and listed as a christian band haha. and to me this song seems to be very much about god. although im not saying that it IS.

Actually, I'm not sure if Mae has ever stated that they are a Christian band. I know they are on a Christian label and the members are Christians, but I read somewhere that Mae does not write songs about Christianity. It'd be good if we could somehow verify that though.

wish I could go around all of the secular music meanings and say 'gosh.. keep my music Christian, mann.'

It's just not something you say.

and This is a place for interpretation of the songs.. what you get out of the song.. so you can't just throw off someone's comment on a song with "I don't think this song is Jesus music" or "I don't like that you Christians always bring up God.".. so they see that the song could help them in a spiritual aspect... What's so wrong with that...?...

I think if a song is making a world a better place for many people's minds then let it be...
And on that note.. get to know some true whole hearted Christians who want to do nothing but simply love the world as Jesus did... then be able to say that Christianity is a heist and idiotic.. It's something that changes hearts.. and shouldn't ever be taken lightly.
i dont think it has anything to do with god or christ. honestly, why does everyone come to that conclusion?? ugh
agreed. keep my music agnostic.

Embers and Envelopes has a reference to God in it. Some members of the band are Christians. They're on a Christian label.

You can take the meaning however you want to, but it was probably written to God.
