it may not be the intention of the song, but when i hear it it touches me personally. i take it as kind of a back and forth thing, with the way i feel about someone. theres a friend of mine. we used to be so close. but i got involved with someone else, and moved in with him. we're still together a year and a half later, but at times i still have that inkling that if i knew mike liked me, i just might have "picked him instead" as the song says. everythings so different, and whether thats for better or for worse, i dont know.
